(text from ebay auction:)
"This is a rare vintage and original 1951 First Edition paperback book - a nice clean tight copy of Archer Book No. 52 - "Sinful Sisters" with a crazy cool pulp pin-up cover by Reginald Heade. Written by Ernest McKeag using the pseudonym Roland Vane, distributed in the United States by Kaywin Publishers of Cleveland Ohio. This is one of the more iconic sleaze paperback pulp fiction book titles that dominated newstands after the heyday of the pulp magazine. The covers promised debauchery, lesbianism and 1950s under the counter erotica, and sometimes the stories delivered. In particular, the lesbian pulps such as this stood out as offering an unusual avenue for semi erotic depictions of taboo.
These subversive novels hold a unique place in 20th century pop culture--though marketed as the stuff of erotic fantasy for a male audience, they became the only place where a lesbian readership could see their lifestyle openly (if somewhat ham-fistedly) discussed. For many, buying these "dirty" paperbacks became a coming-out ritual. The cover art, which played up the titillating aspects of "deviant love," has always been central to the popularity of the genre."
