blurb
Because there is a great deal of interest in photographs of early prostitutes, Chickadee Press has published its sixth volume of photographs. The photographs in this book are different than those found in the other books of photos published by Chickadee Press. This book displays amateur and professional photographs of women who worked as prostitutes from 1870 to 1930. Some of the women are fully clothed and others are nude. The author has collected these photographs since 1993. They come from a variety of sources. Some of the images are in good condition while others have deteriorated. Along with each photograph is a statement about prostitutes or prostitution. Taken together these statements almost constitute a separate text.

blurb
This book contains a large collection of amateur and professional photographs of prostitutes who worked in the trade from 1865 to 1920. Some ladies are fully clothed; others are fully nude; a number are somewhere in between. By today’s standards some of these women are very attractive but others are not. They are all actual soiled doves that made their living exchanging sexual pleasure for money. These photographs, collected over the last 12 years, vary in quality. Photographic processing in the late 1800s and early 1900s was not a perfected medium and many of the photographs have deteriorated since that time. Accompanying each picture is a statement about prostitution or the prostitutes who engaged in the world’s oldest profession during the time period.

blurb
In the process of my research I have found serious, light-hearted, interesting, profound and thought-provoking statements about and from the women in the oldest profession. I saved these in a special notebook with the idea of eventually publishing them. Although the photographs in this book are from the time period 1890-1920s, quotes are from more contemporary people. A quote appears under each of the photographs. These statements do not relate to the photographs, but they do represent opinions and observations about prostitutes and prostitution. It is important to note that none of these women were recipients of plastic surgery, breast augmentation, Botox treatments or any of the numerous physical alterations that women (and men) have access to in the twenty-first century. The photos were used for several purposes. First, some were used to produce stereo-views. These three-dimensional pictures were popular at the time. Second, some of the pictures were used to make French Postcards. These were risqué cards sold from under the counter in shops. Third, a portion of the photos were bought by men collecting risqué photographs of women in various stages of undress. Finally, some of the pictures may have been used by the women for advertising. The idea was that the man possessing the photograph would think of the lady pictured the next time he wanted to have a good time. She was, after all, a good-time girl.

blurb
This is the fifth volume in the series. The photographers and women in the photographs are by and large unknown. Most of these previously unpublished photographs were produced by professional photographers. Many of the women are shown in photographic studios with painted backdrops. As in the previous books, the photographs range from fully-dressed prostitutes to those who have shed all their clothes. The photographs are not pornographic, the ladies are just not wearing clothes. Each photograph is accompanied by a quote about prostitutes or prostitution. These quotes come from a variety of sources. Some of the passages are serious while others are tongue-in-cheek. Although many of the quotes are from contemporary sources, they apply to the time period represented in this volume. Examples of quotes include Isabel Paterson, “If the state wants to eliminate prostitution, it would have to kill half of the population” and Andre Dworkin, “The argument between wives and whores is an old one; each one thinking that whatever she is, at least she is not the other.”

blurb
This second volume of photos is an extension of the first book, Fifty Years of Prostitute Photos 1870-1920 Volume I, published by Chickadee Press. Volume II contains different photos than found in the previous book. This book shows a number of sportin’ women photographed by a variety of different photographers, including professionals, police and amateurs. The photographs range from those in which the women are fully clothed to those where they are completely nude. Some of the women appear prim and proper while others are playful and naughty. The photos show women all in the same profession yet very different in looks, character and demeanor.

This is the eighth volume in the series. Most of the photographs in this book have not been previously published in the other books produced by Chickadee Press. As with the other books in this series the photographers and women in the photographs are unknown. These photographs were produced by professional as well as amateur photographers. All photographs date between 1870 and the 1920s. The majority are of French and American prostitutes. Each photograph is accompanied by a quote about prostitutes or prostitution. blurb
This is the tenth and last volume in the series of Fifty Years of Prostitute Photos 1870-1920. Most of the photographs in this book have not been previously published in the other books produced by Chickadee Publishing. As with the other books in this series the photographers and women in the photographs are unknown. Most of the women wanted it that way, as did most of the photographers I have collected observations and quotes from and about prostitutes and prostitution for over twenty years. In the process of my research I have found serious, light-hearted, interesting, profound and thought-provoking statements about and from the women in this profession. Each photograph in this book is accompanied by a quote about prostitutes or prostitution. Although nameless at least we will be reminded of what they looked like through their photographs.

blurb
This is the ninth volume in the series. The photographers and women in the photographs are mostly unknown. Most of the photographs were produced by professional as well as amateur photographers. Most of the women are shown in photographic studios with painted backdrops. The rest of these photographs were taken in a variety of settings. All photographs date between 1870 and the 1920s. The majority are of American and French prostitutes. It is not known if these particular French women were active prostitutes in the United States or Canada. As in previous books, photographs range from fully dressed prostitutes to those who had shed all their clothes. The photographs are not pornographic, the ladies are just not wearing clothes. I have also found contemporary society has acknowledged, preserved and celebrated the pioneer prostitutes. I have interspersed these facts and observations in this volume. I have made observations about specific photos and recorded them on the relevant pages.
